Biographical Sketch

Class of 2011 – Spring Start


Lisa Bushmire is originally from Pittsburgh and currently lives in Claysville, PA with her husband Chuck, and their two dogs and three University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing horses. Lisa obtained her ADN from Community College of Allegheny County (2002) and began working at UPMC Presby in the Trauma/Surgical ICU. She completed her BSN in 2007 at California University of Pennsylvania. Lisa University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing and her husband enjoy anything that has to do with the outdoors and horses. She does admit an addiction to fishing and hunting!


Michael Cellurale is originally from Uniontown, Pa University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing and is a graduate of Laurel Highlands High School in Uniontown. He began at the University of Pittsburgh with the intent of pre-med majoring in psychology. However, as he was finishing his psych degree University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing, he decided that nursing fit his interest best, therefore applied and began the undergrad program the following year. All told, Mike spent seven years in undergrad and completed his University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing psychology and nursing degrees while also obtaining a minor in theatre. He has worked at the Veterans Hospital in Oakland for almost five years, three as a RN. Mike is an avid Pittsburgh fan, a University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing very outdoors oriented person, and loves to travel, and is very close with his family and friends. He was also one of the last people to ever march in Pitt Stadium as University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing part of the Pitt Marching Band. Mike also met the love of his life in Rachel Goettler who is also attending the program with him. He is glad to be here and University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing hopes to bring great things to Pitt. Black and Gold Forever.


^ Jennifer Falconer grew up in McDonald, PA. Jennifer attended Mercy Hospital School of Nursing after completing high school. She then University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing began working on the Transplant floor at Montefiore Hospital UPMC and after a year of experience decided to enter the Neuro-Trauma ICU at Presby. During this period she attended the University of University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing Pittsburgh to complete her BSN. She currently resides in Shadyside. In her spare time she enjoys working out at the gym, dancing, traveling, and spending time with her friends and University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing family.


Rachel Goettler is originally from Butler, PA and has since lived in Pittsburgh where she obtained her BSN from the University of Pittsburgh in 2007. After working at Presby's MICU for a year University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing, she ventured to Southern California for a travel nursing assignment in a CCU/ICU for the summer. She would have gladly remained a beach bum and stayed in Cali if University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing she had not received the great news of being accepted to Pitt's Nurse Anesthesia program! She currently lives in Bloomfield with her wonderful boyfriend Mike, also in the program. She is University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing a die-hard Pittsburgh girl, lives for her friends and family, world travel, great food and wine, biking, skiing, running in the park, and naturally, the Stillers. Go black and gold!


^ LaShonda Gray was University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing born and raised in St. Louis, MO. She earned a BSN in nursing at Maryville University-St. Louis in 2006, and thereafter began working in the CVICU at St. John's Mercy University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing Medical Center. LaShonda enjoys spending time with family and friends, exercising, music, and baking cakes.


Mark Huang was born in Taiwan, grew up in Texas, and most recently plied his University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing nursing trade in Colorado before making the trek to the Burgh. He relishes caring for critically ill children with an occasional big person thrown in for variety. Mark makes his home with his University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing most supportive wife, Ellen, and two year old son, Elijah, in Highland Park. When he had some free time, Mark has been known to attempt long rides on his man-powered cycle and slide University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing down big mountains on two planks.


^ Lisa Iannone is a Pittsburgh native residing in the South Hills. During her career as a flight attendant, she attended CCAC and completed an University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing Associates Degree in Science (April ‘03) and an Associates Degree in Nursing (December ‘05). She then obtained her BSN from The University of Pittsburgh (December ‘07) and is currently employed by UPMC Presbyterian in University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing the Neurovascular ICU. Lisa is a single parent of two daughters. The family pets consist of two ferrets, a dog, and a frog!


^ Rae Ann Levine is a native of southwestern Pennsylvania and resides in University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing McDonald. She graduated from Ohio Valley General Hospital with a diploma degree in nursing and obtained a BSN at the University of Pittsburgh. Rae Ann has worked in the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing NS-ICU at UPMC Shadyside, the neuro/trauma ICU at UPMC Presbyterian and is currently working in the emergency department at UPMC Shadyside. One of her former patients, who is a CRNA, inspired her to University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing pursue a career in anesthesia. She has four grown kids and loves spending time with them when they are home.


Rhonda Martone was born and raised in and around Vancouver, British Columbia University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing, Canada. She moved to Calgary, Alberta at the age of 17, earned a college diploma in rehabilitation education and subsequently worked with children and adolescents with special needs for several University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing years. While in Calgary, she met her husband, Don, and relocated to Dallas in 1999. While in Texas awaiting her green card, she taught scuba diving and led group dive trips around the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing world. She earned her BSN degree from the University of Texas at Arlington in 2005 and relocated to Pittsburgh when her husband accepted a new position with his company. She worked in the MICU University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing at UPMC Presbyterian for the past 3 yrs. Rhonda and her husband reside in Oakland with their 12 year old 4-legged baby, an American Eskimo, named Blizzard.


Patty McCullough grew up in the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing North Hills of Pittsburgh. She worked as a Designer and draftsperson for seven years before returning to school to become a nurse. She earned her Nursing Diploma in 1994 from St. Francis Hospital and completed her University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing BSN at California University of PA. Patty lived in Erie, PA for 10 years and enjoyed "life on the lake" while working in the Ortho/Trauma Unit, and the MICU at University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing Hamot Hospital, as well as the CCU at St Vincent's Hospital (yes, home of Sr. Mary Bernard!). She moved back to Pittsburgh four years ago, and settled in the south hills in Upper University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing St Clair where she is working at St Clair Hospital ICU. Patty is married and has three children. In her free time she enjoys biking and kayaking with her husband.


Paul McMullen University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing was born and raised in Akron, Ohio as the oldest in a family of eight children. He received his BSN from Kent State University in 2006 and began working at Akron University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing General Medical Center in their Medical/Surgical ICU. Having just recently moved to Pittsburgh, he is having fun learning to navigate all the bridges/tunnels within the city. He is getting married to his University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing beautiful fiancée in the spring, 2010. He enjoys playing music of all kinds (guitar, bass, piano, drums), and has even opened for 2 nationally known Christian bands.


Jessica Novak was born in University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing Pittsburgh but raised in Williamsport, PA, the home of the Little League World Series. After graduating high school she traveled back to Pittsburgh to pursue a nursing degree. She graduated Magna Cum Laude University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing from Pitt with her BSN. After working in the Medical ICU at Presbyterian Hospital she was accepted into Pitt's Spring 2011 Nursing Anesthesia class. On the side she enjoys spending University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing time with family and friends, running, skiing and dominating fantasy football leagues.


Jim Ressler is a native of Pittsburgh, currently living in the Penn Hills area with his beautiful wife and four daughters. He University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing obtained his RN from Community College of Allegheny County South Campus in 2001 and completed his BSN at the University of Pittsburgh in 2007. His experience includes seven years at UPMC St. Margaret’s University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing Hospital, two years of which was on the Ortho-surgical floor and five years in PACU. He transferred to Presbyterian’s CT ICU in April 2008, prior to starting nurse anesthesia University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing school. His interests include cooking and generally enjoys outdoor activities such as camping, swimming, playing with the kids. He looks forward post grad to staying in Pittsburgh and enjoying free time with family University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing and friends.


^ Jenna Rickert is originally from a small town in central Wisconsin. She earned her BSN in 2008 from Cardinal Stritch University in Milwaukee and there worked at St. Lukes Medical Center University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing’s MRICU for a little over a year. To attend school, Jenna relocated to the North Hills, PA and lives with her husband, Andy and cat, Whiskey. In her free University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing time (what’s that?) she enjoys spending time with family and friends, going out to eat, watching sports and especially attending Milwaukee Brewer games, working out, vacationing, and relaxing.


Chad Ross grew University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing up and lives in California PA, about 1 hour south of Pittsburgh. Chad lives with his wife Jennifer and 3 young children, Donny (5), Alex (3) and Christian (2). Chad recieved his ADN from CCAC and his BSN from California University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing University of Pennsylvania. He worked in the UPMC PUH/MUH ORs as an Anesthesia Tech for 7 years prior to completing his Nursing degree. He has spent the last 6 years working University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing in the CTICU at UPMC Presbyterian.


^ Courtney Smith is a Pittsburgh native. She earned her BSN from the University of Pittsburgh in 2003. After graduation, she accepted a position with UPMC Presbyterian and has University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing worked in the Trauma-Surgical ICU ever since. Courtney lives in Robinson with her husband, John. She is the proud mother of two boys, Mac, 7 and Cameron, 3. Outside of school, she University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing enjoys spending time with her family, skiing, cooking, traveling, and of course, cheering for the Steelers.


Danielle Smith is originally from St. Mary’s Pennsylvania. Upon graduating high school in 2001, she moved to Pittsburgh University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing to pursue a nursing career. Danielle attended the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing and graduated in 2005 with her BSN degree. After completion of her BSN, she worked at UPMC University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing Presbyterian Neuro-Trauma ICU for 3.5 years before being accepted into the anesthesia program. Danielle currently lives in the North Hills. She enjoys spending lots of time with family and friends, vacationing, skiing, being outdoors University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing, playing with her dog Abby, and Steeler football!!


^ John Szymanski was born and raised in the small village of Wilcox, PA. After spending most of his younger years raising University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing cattle and driving truck as a summer job, John moved to Pittsburgh and attended Pitt’s School of Nursing. He graduated from Pitt in 2007 and started working in UPMC Presbyterian’s MICU, where he remained University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing until the start of anesthesia school. He currently lives in the North Hills/Shaler area with his wife Alexis, puppy Roo, and cats Scooter and Tinkerbelle. John enjoys being outdoors, music, slack University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing lining, squirrel hunting, and of course Pitt football.


Jordan Thompson is from Ephraim, Utah. He received his BSN from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah in 2007 and began working in University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing a Medical/Surgical/Trauma ICU at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo, Utah. Jordan is married and has one child. He enjoys spending time with his family, playing basketball, hiking, fishing, water skiing University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing, and watching any спорт on TV.


Kimberly Wysocki grew up in Carlisle, PA. She obtained her BSN from Penn State University in 2006 and then moved to Pittsburgh to begin her nursing career University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing in the CTICU at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital. She resides in Highland Park with her husband Aaron and Sidney Crosby...their dog. In her free time, she enjoys backpacking, kayaking University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing, running with Sidney, and visiting her nephew, Quinten, in San Francisco.
